MAKEUP PART ONE

Finally I am going to discuss makeup. Personally I don't like to wear makeup but I have learned with age that there are good reasons for wearing makeup. Aging, skin discoloration, acne, scars and other imperfections can easily be covered with the help of makeup -- the keyword being coverage. This is just my opinion (since I'm the owner of this blog) but makeup should enhance one's skin NOT cover. Ladies, clown makeup is gone for good!

So why the title Makeup Part One? If you read my previous post on beauty regime, makeup is a large category to cover in one post. There is foundation, lipstick, eyeshadow, liner, mascara, concealer and blush. People, people, pay attention! Did you forget the name of this blog? Who the hell has time for all that, not me that's for sure. Tomboys don't wear makeup, at least not the way most women wear makeup. All we need is a good mineral powder, stay on lipstick (more on this later) and possibly light mascara (for the daredevils).

Today I'm discussing mineral powder. My skin is uneven with very dark circles under my eyes. Add a bad case of adult acne and you got yourself a beautician's dream client. I was snagged one day in the mall by one of those clown people and offered a free makeover. What the hell, I had some time to burn. I learned a lot about myself that day and the cosmetics industry.

First, there is a product for every skin ailment you can imagine, unless the sales lady lied to me in order to get the sale (something to think about). Second, makeup if used properly could actually help me. How? Well for one it got rid of my dark circles and uneven skin tone. That boosted my self confidence tremendously. And since I loved the way it made me look and feel it forced me to look into some kind of beauty regime. Yikes! I couldn't believe this was coming out of my mouth!

Unfortunately the sales lady didn't earn her commission that day. I refused to pay a fortune for that miracle in a bottle. However, like I said before, I learned a lot that day. While the sales lady did my makeover, I asked a ton of questions about every product. I felt kinda bad that she didn't make any money from that lecture because she really knew her products. You understand where I'm going with this? Ok let me spell it out for you, use the sales lady and soak up all her knowledge. They absolutely love talking especially if they know a big fat commission is waiting. Please do not attempt this stunt if you cannot walk away from the counter! Take a friend if you have to (she has to be stronger than you).

Anyway, long story short I found mineral makeup. It's fast and easy to apply and take off. It's weightless, non greasy, breathable and my favorite, inexpensive. No concealer, base, foundation and then setting powder. Layers and layers of coverage. The word layer should scare any woman. Just one product to buy that does everything. In the morning I take a big fluffy brush and sweep the powder over my face twice and that's it. I love this stuff!
